I can say that as a cross language dictionary, for most european languages, it does pretty good, but for translation purposes I will still be on line using Babel Fish on the Alta Vista site.Babylon Dictionary provides a complete translation service for web pages, as well as a multi-language translation service for more than 77 languages at the click of a button. Overall the program has too much commercial and not enough substance to the program. This could be because of something that I missed in setting up the configuration, but the help files and online guide was of no help here. characters but seemed to use the default windows font for my system. If you want cross language compatibility, make sure to get the lang1 to lang2 file and the reverse (lang 2 to lang1 file), such as eng-french.bgl and french-eng.bgl as there is no interchange file availability (eng-french-eng).īabylon pro seems to have considerable difficuly with non delimited languages (ones with no space between individual words such as asian languages).Īlthough you can cut and paste words into the search bar, even with windows global IME and utf-8 fonts installed in my computer, Babylon would not print kana,kanji,etc. With the registered version you can get a free glossary builder program to build your own dictionarys. 
There are a good deal of glossarys in a proprietary format with the extension BGL. This software does a pretty good job on individuaal words, however, I would not consider this a translator, but more of an inter language dictionary.
